Charlotte Woman Wins $1 Million Top Prize in North Carolina Lottery Second Chance Drawing

A lucky Charlotte resident is planning her retirement after winning the $1 million top prize in the North Carolina Education Lottery’s $10 Million Spectacular Second Chance drawing.

The winner entered the drawing, which received over 1.9 million entries, and chose the lump sum option, receiving $600,000 before taxes. After applicable state and federal taxes, her total payout was $430,500.

“This is crazy. It’s just wild. It still hasn’t set in yet that this is real,” she told lottery officials. She plans to use the winnings to pay off her mortgage and prepare for retirement.

The second chance drawing also awards other prizes, including a $500,000 tier-two prize and ten $50,000 prizes. Players enter by scanning their lottery tickets through their accounts.

This win marks the third of four planned second-chance drawings for this game, with the date for the final.
